COMMUNITY SAFETY.

a FURTHER JOINT INITIATIVE TOOKPLACE RECENTLY INVOLVING SOUTHWARK POLICE AND BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE.
The Forum are taking uplack of Lambeth Police participation.
Pc Ian Mulchay reported that asa result of co-operation with Lambeth and arreast had been made and a man was being held in custody following a spate of robber and assaults on one day in December.

ILLEGAL LEFT TURN FROM RAILTON ROAD UNDER BRIDGE

This is A pressing problem with a serious accident waiting to happen.

CLOSURE OF RAILTON PASSAGE.

THE FORUM SUPpORTED THE CLOSURE OF THIS ALLEY ,and
a concept to make the green space accessible in some form

HERNE HILL JUNCTION PROPOSALS

were presented tonight at the Forum meeting. Formal consultation will take place in the next few months. The proposals range from |£500k to £1m . |At present £350k is available from TFL but other funding source exist.

LAMBETH CRIME.

The year ended on a good note with street crime down 30% during December. Increased Police numbers and special operations as well a three week closure of Brixton Tube were factors in this.
The Police Consultative Group got off to a very good start with meeting focused entirely on policing issues .

MILKWOOD OPEN SPACE work begins

Maude Estwick Chair of the Milkwood Residents Association has announced today that the £500k project to regenerate
Milkwood Open Space starts on Friday 30th.January the culmination of over 3 years work .

BROCKWELL PONDS

DESILTING OF THE Main POND HAS STARTED THIS WEEK.get up there for a rare opportunity to see an empty pond. The fish have been moved to lower ponds a system of retaining the silt on the sides is being used work is being carried out by same firm doing Belair Park.

JUNCTION PROPOSALS

Two sets of drawings to reroute buses and improve pedestrain
safety will be available on 27th. Primary one scheme involves part pedestrianisation of Railton Road and access for local vehicles.and the other reverses the traffic flow in Railton Road from the Junction to Rymer Street.
This option will have certain negatives including the loss of most of the pavement outsede the Pizza Shop on the corner and fast traffic entering the road.
